iPhone 5 rumors and leaks have been turning up left and right over the past few weeks. We’ve heard about a possible 13 megapixel camera, 4G LTE, bigger display, and even NFC capability being found in the new iPhone 5. While we don’t know for sure what features will and will not make it into the iPhone 5 that is released to the public (likely to happen this summer), we do know some of the other features we want to see–beyond those that we’ve been hearing will be found in the iPhone 5.
Better Facebook and Twitter Integration in iPhone 5
With iOS5, Apple introduced Twitter integration where images can be uploaded to Twitter from the built-in iOS photo app. You cannot, however, upload images to Facebook directly from the photos app on the iPhone, which is something many people are not happy about. We’re hoping that Apple will improve both the Facebook and Twitter integration on the iPhone 5 so that pictures and statuses can be easily sent from the iPhone 5 without needing to launch the apps for both programs.
MicroSD Card Support
One of the things that separates the iPhone from Android phones is the fact that Android phones support the use of microSD cards to store music and other files on the device. Although many iPhone users are happy with the current iPhone size offerings (16GB, 32GB and 64GB), some need more space than this to adequately store their high resolution images and videos, not to mention their music and video library. It doesn’t seem likely that the iPhone 5 will have microSD card support, but it’s still something we’d love to see.
Better Battery Life and a Removable Battery
Even if you only make the occasional call or play the occasional game on your iPhone, you’re probably going to find that the phone needs to be charged at least once per day. In fact, many iPhone 4 and 4S have complained that the battery life on their device is too short. We’re hoping that the iPhone 5 will come with a longer lasting battery so that we only have to charge the phone every other day, rather than every day. Even more so, we’re hoping that the iPhone 5’s battery is removable so that we can easily replace the battery when it stops holding a good charge.
Better Zooming and Image Taking
The iPhone 4S camera is by far the best iPhone camera yet. That having been said, one thing we think could stand to be improved is the zoom functionality for the iPhone 5. You can’t zoom very much with the iPhone 4S, and when you do, the zoomed images appear very blurry. While we’re on the topic of image quality, we’d also like to see an even better camera in the iPhone 5. This doesn’t necessarily mean a camera with more megapixels (because having more megapixels doesn’t always translate to better image quality), but rather a higher quality camera that is capable of taking great images whether the lighting is perfect or too bright/too dark.
Slimmer, New Design
Don’t get us wrong, we like the design of the 4S and don’t find it to be too terribly balky. However, when you compare the 4S to the ultra thin Droid Razr or Samsung Galaxy S2, the iPhone is a little thicker than we’d like. As we’ve been hearing that the iPhone 5 will come with a bigger display, we’re hoping that Apple finds a way to incorporate the bigger display while also making the iPhone 5 a little bit slimmer. Even if that means drastically changing the design of the new iPhone.
